  What You Do Next, Counts!

When is the time for succession? Like all cycles, there is a time for creating and nurturing your business and there is a time to let go and move on. How can you tell when that time comes? It happens when you no longer feel the white heat imperative that makes the difference between personal fulfillment and the Same Old Stuff (SOS). Here are the questions I ask myself:

  • Am I treating the enterprise as an investment, both in terms of time and financial commitments?
  • Does the enterprise have a real business purpose?
  • Am I treating my stakeholders (employees, suppliers, customers, family, friends and me) fairly and responsibly and have I created balance (between learning, working and playing) in my life?
  • Do I have a plan for the future that both ensures my future and the continuity of the business?Free Newsletter Archive

If you find you have lost your passion -- not just gotten discouraged for the moment -- but truly lost it, and can answer the above questions positively, ask yourself one last question, "Is it time to go?".
