A Time for Every Season
I often hear someone say, "I'm not the person I used to
be..." Frankly, I'm glad to hear it. Most of the people I know
improve, like wine, with age. The fellow I see in the mirror each
morning is a good example. Age has taken off my rough edges without
(I think) costing me my edge. Family, friends, clients and others I
interact with each day are benefiting from my growth and seasoning
and it seems to be working well. At the same time, having broken a
wrist in 2006 and torn a meniscus this year, I am recognizing there
might be some things I can't do as well, or as long, or as quickly,
anymore. I laugh when I don't measure up to my former standards --
it's humbling in a very positive way, reinforcing the notion that
there is, indeed, "a time for every season."
Do you give yourself credit for all you've done in life? All you've
been? All you have become? Do you see your glass as half empty? As
half full? Or can you come to see it simply as your glass-- with all
that that means?
